It’s one of the biggest fundraising drives ever seen on YouTube. Hoping to raise $20 million to plant 20 million trees by 2020, over 600 YouTubers and influencers have teamed up to take on the challenge.
#TeamTrees started in May 2019 when the internet challenged MrBeast to plant 20 million trees to commemorate hitting the 20M subscriber milestone. Fans then suggested he band together with a bunch of other YouTubers and influencers to make it happen.
A growing group of them have been posting videos on YouTube using the hashtag #TeamTrees and asking viewers to donate to the cause.
The goal is to flood YouTube with fundraising videos, gaming the algorithm to try to get as many videos as possible about climate change on the platform’s Trending page and on people’s homepages and recommendations.
